Our graveyard is running out of space, so for several years we have been discussing a very generous offer made by the land owner and the developer, Newland Homes, for a new graveyard off their proposed housing development site, just along Elberton Road.
They have confirmed their offer by a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which has been accepted by the PCC and will be signed, in due course, on behalf of us all, by Rev David Moss.
An application in outline is to be made soon, at the developers own cost, covering the use of the land at the bottom of the site off Aust Road for housing and off Elberton Road at the top of the site, for the new graveyard, with a separate vehicular access for each. (see plan)
The details of the layout shown on the application plans are to be considered in another, later application.
Once the application is placed by South Gloucestershire Council on its web site it will be open for public comment. We hope that church members will feel it a useful addition to our existing graveyard, which will also be available to anyone living in the parish who wishes to be buried or remembered there and that you will write to SGC in support. A copy of the MOU, proposed site plan and Minutes from the PCC Meeting are available on the welcome desk inside church. We would like to hear if you have any comments, if so please return them to Mike Wright e: revsrural@gmail.com
